DISTRICT 8

MANAGEMENT

We are proud and excited to announce that District 8 has launched a brand new Artist Management division. As a brand that has booked, supported and promoted homegrown talent for the past decade – we now have our sights on developing and furthering emerging artists’ careers.

This division will run hand in hand with the brand’s vision of improving the overall landscape of Irish nightlife and club culture. The story begins with two of the country’s most exciting young prospects who have carved their own path thus far – Dublin-based production duo Obskür and Kerry native selector Yasmin Gardezi.

OBSKÜR

Hailing from Dublin, Obskür since their inception in May 2019 have begun to make a name for themselves. Consisting of Lorcan McCarthy & Faustas Astrauskas, the duo have carved their way out of the pandemic with their raw and energetic productions that captures their personality very well.

Since the release of their record ‘Bayside’ in 2020 along with their most recent ‘Twister’ single on FFRR and remixes for the likes of Dom Dolla and Barbara Tucker, the lads have already set out their sound and style, earning them recognition for their use of hard hitting 909’s, slick Hip-Hop samples and raw elements. Playing live shows with some of the UK and Irelands biggest clubbing brands in The Warehouse Project, XOYO in London, Creamfields, Reading & Leeds as well as playing Amnesia alongside Sonny Fodera and Danny Howard in July. – the live side of the duo’s game is already hotly tipped to be massive.

Obskür continue to grow their fanbase with over 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and 10,000 streams a day on Soundcloud with listeners hungry for their next release. With support and collaborations with some of the biggest names in the game such as Annie Mac, Vintage Culture, Eats Everything, Pete Tong, Ejeca, Danny Howard, Gorgon City and many many more – its all looking towards a very very bright rise to the very top for these two.

YASMIN GARDEZI

Yasmin Gardezi, a native of Kerry, has been crafting her sound into a fast paced, energetic industrial techno set, with inflections of acid techno and trance. Her musical energy creates a unique style of set that takes listeners on a journey through her broad catalogue of new and old music. She is a resident of MOTZ Berlin, a techno events label and webzine run by Irish girls in Berlin, London and Ireland.

An ever-present name on some of the biggest shows in the country – Life festival, Boxed Off, Electric Picnic and multiple headline club shows north, south, east and west of the island. Hotly tipped as one of Irelands ‘next big things’ Yasmin is a glimpse into what the future of Irish dance music will look like.”

DART

One of the most consistent Irish producers of recent years - Jordan has been steadily carving out his own path to world domination.

From massive festival sets to unforgettable appearances at clubs like Fabric, Index and Sub Club. Beyond the live shows, Jordan’s distinct productions lie deep rooted between the raw qualities of progressive 90s rave, old school trance and modern techno. Headlined by massive collabs and remixes with some of the biggest names in the game.

One to watch and already an established powerhouse all wrapped into one. We cannot wait to begin this journey with him.

ACADEMY

DISTRICT 8 ACADEMY IS AN INITIATIVE BY THE DISTRICT 8 TEAM AND ELEVATOR PROGRAM

Over the past decade – we’ve seen the creative talent this country has produced through the avenues of dance music and events. The aim is to help younger people find a substantial footing within the industry and broader scene. We want to use our platform to discuss different industry areas openly and shed light on possible industry opportunities.

This can hopefully give people a deeper understanding and appreciation for the possibilities within dance music and the music industry. We want people to consider careers and development that align with their dreams. We want to pass on the experience we have accumulated over the years in the hope that younger people can find a stable path to follow.

Far too many people get lost along the way. We don’t teach you how to beat mix, but we discuss what it means to be a DJ in today’s world. District 8 Academy event is a more general look at the scene and industry in Ireland, and we can hopefully provide some general guidance to people.

We discuss topics like diversity and mental health at the very core of the industry.
